Proprioception Exercises for Ankle Injury
At the start of her 3-month stay at our tennis academy Jaya was suffering from an ankle injury, namely, she had torn ligaments surrounding the ankle joint.
Since insufficient balance is one of the most typical reasons lying behind this type of injury, one of the focal points for our fitness team was improving her ankle balance and proprioception.
Proprioception exercises help to regain control over the position of the joint as well as postural sway and positively influence dynamic neuromuscular control.
In addition, proprioceptive training is a very effective tool in preventing ankle sprains and recurring ankle injuries.
In the videos below we show a series of proprioceptive exercises with Jaya on the beach and our fitness director Sergi Valldaura.
