Working on problem-solving skills

Last week’s mental sessions were dedicated to working on the strategy of problem solving. Here’s a summary prepared by our team of sport psychologists from Altrendiment
Young athletes make systematic decisions when they have a sufficient amount of time and can give deeper thought to situations and problems. Developing this key skill will encourage players to find a more effective strategy and develop in a mature, decisive manner.
With that training we focus on: active listening, analysis, research, creativity, communication, dependability, decision making and team-building.

Here are seven-steps for an effective problem-solving process.

  • Identify the issues. Be clear about what the problem is. ...

  • Understand everyone's interests. ...

  • List the possible solutions (options) ...

  • Evaluate the options. ...

  • Select an option or options. ...

  • Document the agreement(s). ...

  • Agree on contingencies, monitoring, and evaluation.
