BTA Player of June

‘I don't think things change on their own, you have to make them change and I'm going to do my best to change.’ - Rafael Nadal

Our coaching team has decided that the BTA player of June should be Layan Mohamed, our 13-year-old player from the Maldives.

The prize is for Layan’s consistent effort of technical learning requiring a good aptitude for correction and humility to accept that you must change things in your tennis to have a long-term progression.

According to Luis, our head coach working with Layan, the qualitative leap in Layan's technique since she arrived at the academy is impressive.

"I would like to reward Layan, she is much more consistent than before. Now she can play and win with players that in September she could not play by level."

Jordane, our tennis director, points out:

"She has improved in all her shots: serve, forehand, backhand, volley, she can rally 50 strokes in a row and a few months ago it was hardly 5 and little by little she is improving her leg mobility, which is her next performance goal. I honestly think that of all the players who are in the academy, she is the one who has made the most progress," adds Jordane.

Big congrats to Layan for her great progress from all of us! Keep up the good work!
