Q & A with our player Ekua
Every month we select a Player of the month and then we do a short interview with them so that you can get to know our team of full-time players better. Such interviews are a great tool for self-evaluation as well as a useful form of feedback.
In April our player of the month was Ekua Youri, originally from Botswana, living in England and training with us at BTA in Spain. Here are her answers:
Q: What do you think you have improved the most since you started playing at BTA: on court and off court?
A: Since starting at BTA, I think my serve has improved tremendously, especially my first serve. I’m now serving with a lot of confidence. I also think my determination has improved generally in the way I do things.
Q: Why do you think you have become the ‘Player of the month’?
A: I think I became the player of the month because of my good attitude towards the online fitness and mental fitness. And I contributed a lot.
Q: Last 3 months we had been in isolation... what things did you enjoy doing during that time?
A: During Isolating I enjoy spending time with my family and catching up with my friends in England.
Q: Do you think that feeling good with your tennis mates can affect your performance development?
A: I don’t think feeling good with my tennis friends affects my performance because when I step on court I completely change and forget about all relations with my friends. When I get off court I go back to being friends with people.
Q: How do you value the philosophy of the academy to limit the number of players to be able to not only train the player but take care of the person?
A: I believe the philosophy is very important as it improves my in court and off court attitude. Sometimes it can be boring but I know it will help me a lot in the future.
